Thank you for making this the best SGO ever! --
SGO
program overview: Evening #1: Dinner for the present and past board of directors and their spouses. The client requested a location and activity that would not be available to the general public. Program Highlights: A unique evening was planned at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Guests toured the Veldt on feed trucks en route to cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the Serengeti Plain. They then returned to the Crown Colony House for an elegant safari dinner consisting of exotic quail salad, medallion of ostrich and beef tenderloin. The Results: The location provided a "magical" setting for the group's well-traveled guests • The menu reflected a genuine sense of the dinner location • The attendees felt very special having participated in this memorable event Evening #2: The exhibit hall opening was to be immediately followed by a cocktail reception at the Tampa Convention Center. The client requested a setting that would showcase the history of Tampa and motivate attendees to come to and stay at the reception prior to going out to dinner on their own. Program Highlights: The attendees' interest was peaked when Latin Horns accompanied by Latin Dancers dressed in vintage Latin attire appeared at the conclusion of the exhibit hall opening and paraded the attendees to the Rotunda for the cocktail reception portion of their evening. The rotunda and waterfront areas were transformed in to A Night in Havana with the use of faux brick buildings, wicker furniture, luscious florals in street vendor carts and a working water fountain. The food highlighted Latin as well as other local flavors. Entertainment included cigar rollers demonstrating the art of rolling, a flamenco guitarist as well as a high-energy Latin band. The evening concluded with a fire works display. The Results: The attendance at this function far exceeded the client's expectations and became the second "magical" evening • The location, decor and entertainment provided the attendees a strong sense of the history of the Tampa Bay Area • The function was talked about throughout the rest of the annual meeting Evening #3: The challenge was to take an event, which usually consisted of a standard debate format, and change it into an event which would help bring the younger generation in to the process. This evening consisted of lively debate between SGO members as well as a venue for a member "garage band". The client required a setting that would not only encourage the debate format but also provide for audience participation. Program Highlights: A boxing theme was developed as a stage for the debate participants. As guests entered the venue, they truly felt like they had been transported to a Las Vegas-style boxing match. A regulation sized boxing ring was set in the ballroom of the Marriott Waterside Hotel. Boxing memorabilia from days gone by surrounded the ring as well as tables covered in lush table linens and adorned with vintage style table lamps. A Don King-like character as well as "cigarette girls" distributing snacks welcomed the guests in to the ballroom. A lively debate in the center ring ensued with the Don King-like character acting as moderator. The evening concluded with the high-energy performance of the doctors' garage band. The Results: Record turnout for this event occurred due to the uniqueness of the setting and the pre-publicity of the "Fight Night" format • The decor and entertainment highlighted the purpose of the evening • The evening was met with such enthusiasm, the format is one the client will use again in the future.
